- At Peter Pan Day Nursery, we believe that working in partnership with families is essential to supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing. We value parents and carers as their child’s first and most important educators and work closely with families to ensure continuity of care between home and nursery.
- We use the Tapestry online learning journal to share children’s learning, development and achievements with parents in real time. Through Tapestry, families can view observations, photographs and assessments, contribute their own updates from home, and communicate directly with their child’s key person. This supports a strong two-way partnership and helps us build a complete picture of each child’s development.
- Children’s progress is regularly observed and assessed in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We carry out the two-year progress check in partnership with parents and share this with families to celebrate achievements and identify any areas where additional support may be beneficial.
- Parents are kept informed through regular updates, and are encouraged to share their views, questions and ideas at any time. This open and collaborative approach helps ensure every child receives consistent, individualised support to help them thrive.
- At our nursery, children learn and develop through fun, play-based activities across five key areas:
- Personal, Social & Emotional Development – building confidence, friendships and independence
- Communication & Language – speaking, listening and building vocabulary
- Physical Development – coordination, movement and healthy habits
- Early Literacy – stories, mark-making and early reading skills
- Maths & Problem Solving – counting, shapes, patterns and reasoning

Typical daily pre-school activities include:
